This week, the Locomotive Restoration Group reached a significant milestone as we successfully rolled out the fully restored pony truck for N441. The pony truck is essential for distributing the weight of the locomotive over the track and guiding the engine safely around curves
The restoration process began with our volunteers disassembling and assessing the donor components. Following a thorough inspection, we replaced all necessary bushes and pins, reassembled the frame, and applied a fresh coat of paint. Once complete, the pony truck frame and wheelset were sent to our friends at Steamrail Victoria for machining of the newly whitemetaled axleboxes and final assembly. With this work finished, the pony truck is now ready to be fitted under N441’s frame in the near future.
